Robert Garcia & Patrick O’Donnell / CBR THANKS YOU!!

   June 24, 2010 – 6:46 pm Brown

Dear Friends:

Thanks to your support and hard work, the City Council voted last night to fund and support the Federal Breakwater Reconfiguration Study. Restoring our shore will be the most important thing to happen to Long Beach in a generation.

Our $4 million commitment will come from a variety of sources, including $2.5 million from the Tidelands Fund, and another $800,000 from in kind services from the City of Long Beach. The remaining funds will come from grants and other agency support.

I supported moving forward because I believe that bringing waves back to Long Beach will improve our water quality, stimulate tourism, and boost our local economy by making our beaches a new and exciting destination.

We now have a historic opportunity to remake our shoreline and our city. As we move forward, we will ensure that the study fully looks at protection of our coastal homes and the Port of Long Beach. When that study is complete we will know more about these issues, and we will not support anything that endangers coastal properties or other infrastructure.

Thanks again for your support, especially to the local Surfrider Foundation who have been fighting this fight longer than anybody.

Go Long Beach!

Robert Garcia

Antenna Magazine Summer Preview 2010

   June 22, 2010 – 6:51 pm jaso

If you don’t already subscribe to Antenna, you should start today.  Cardboard Robot’s “Night Of The Cougars,” tee was featured in their latest Summer issue.  Maybe it’s because we are from OC/LA that we have a special fondness for these creatures of Newport + Laguna Beach bars, but we felt someone needed to give them the recognition they deserve.  This item is available in retailers now.

Robert Garcia & Patrick O’Donnell / good luck CBR wants the water back!

   June 17, 2010 – 10:25 pm Brown

Dear Friend:

As you know, we are strong supporters of cleaning our water and bringing waves back to Long Beach by reconfiguring the Breakwater. Wave activity will improve our water quality, stimulate tourism, and boost our local economy by making our beaches a new and exciting destination. We can do all this while protecting our coastal homes and the Port of Long Beach.

We expect that this Friday, June 18, 2010 the Army Corps of Engineers will release their decision on moving forward with a federal feasibility study on the breakwater’s reconfiguration.

If the decision is released as expected, then on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 the City Council will vote on whether to move forward and partner with the Army Corps on an extensive feasibility study. This will be a historic vote, and decide the future of our local beaches.

We encourage you to attend the June 22nd City Council meeting and voice your support for a federal feasibility study. The meeting starts at 5:00pm.

Feel free to call our offices (562) 570-6919 (Councilmember Robert Garcia) or (562) 570-6918 (Councilmember Patrick O’Donnell) if you have any questions.

“Born Free 2″ motorcycle show was an amazing event this year. VANS showed up and served hot dogs all day long…shitloads of free tacos and beer-never got one but they were there. Lots of industry regulars in attendance… Lance Mountain, Fletcher Dragge of Pennywise-thanks for the lottery tickets, Riki Rachtman, Jason Hampton of Revolution Mother, Electric’s Kip Arnette-nice Harley, J Cruz-down 300- for lottery tickets, and too many more to name.
